Lakenheath Historical Archive

Lakenheath’s story is one worth telling.

Quite a lot has been written about Lakenheath, often by eminent historians, but our aim has been to use local material as far as possible. This can best be seen in the early photographs which make up the Gallery.

In a similar way the Timeline tries to use as far as possible the work of local people who thought it worthwhile to share the results of their efforts and have provided links with the past.

Times Remembered

This isn’t a history of Lakenheath. There is much that could be included which isn’t!  With a project like this there’s almost always another discovery waiting in ambush. So, if you want to suggest that something should be included which isn’t, or correct something which is, please contact us and we’ll see what we can do.

Villagers and former residents have greatly aided our efforts, with some contributing their own work.  Interviews have produced valuable insights into the village of former times.  We thank all who have helped us.

This is a work in progress. Any and all errors are mine.
